Clinic website: the 10 elements that bring patients in

Online booking, prices, doctors, reviews, speed, local pages: the concrete list of what a clinic website needs to turn visitors into patients.

Short answer

A clinic website that attracts patients shows its specialties, opening hours, an online booking button and a WhatsApp number on the homepage. It presents each doctor with a photo and qualifications, publishes price ranges, loads in under three seconds on mobile and has one page per specialty optimised for local search.

Key takeaways

  • Online booking must be visible without scrolling
  • Every doctor deserves a profile with photo, qualifications and specialty
  • Showing price ranges cuts unnecessary calls
  • One page per specialty and neighbourhood captures local search

When a parent searches for "paediatrician Bonamoussadi" at 9 p.m., they don’t read your brochure. They open three results, look at the photos, search for a booking button and leave as soon as they can’t find one. Here are the ten elements we install on every clinic website, in the order patients look for them.

1. A "Book an appointment" button everywhere

The button belongs in the header, at the top of the homepage and on every specialty page. It leads to a real calendar with per-doctor slots, not a form promising a callback. Confirmation goes out by SMS or WhatsApp, and an automatic reminder the day before reduces no-shows. This element converts more visitors into patients than any other. We cover the setup in Online booking for clinics: a step-by-step setup.

2. Specialties written as answers

Each specialty has its own page: what it treats, when to come in, the tests available, the doctors involved and the booking button. Write it as an answer to the patient’s question ("when should I see a cardiologist?"), not as an administrative list. These are also the pages Google and AI assistants quote most readily.

3. Doctor profiles that reassure

A professional photo, specialty, qualifications, languages spoken and consultation days. Patients choose a person as much as a facility. These profiles also feed the expertise Google evaluates on health topics: content signed by an identified practitioner carries more weight than anonymous text.

4. Hours, address and directions

Hours per department, night duty, a precise address with a well-known local landmark, a Google Maps link and parking information. These details must be identical on the website, the Google Business Profile and directories. An address written three different ways confuses search engines.

5. Price ranges

General consultation, ultrasound, standard blood test: publishing a range doesn’t bind you on every case, but it prevents dozens of calls a week. Also list the insurers and mutual schemes you accept, and whether direct billing is available.

6. Flawless mobile speed

Most of your visitors arrive on a phone, often on a variable connection. Aim for Google’s Core Web Vitals thresholds: main content displayed in under 2.5 seconds, response to taps in under 200 milliseconds, and no layout jumping around. Compressed images, few fonts and serious hosting make the difference. Our Performance & speed service handles it.

7. A secure patient area

Lab results, reports, prescriptions and invoices are viewed in a protected area, never as email attachments. Patients save a trip and your front desk saves time. The BioAnalyse lab demo shows this journey.

8. An assistant for practical questions

"Are you open on Sunday?", "Do you accept this insurer?": an AI assistant trained on your information answers these questions at any hour and offers a booking. It never diagnoses and points to emergency care when a message calls for it.

9. Verifiable trust signals

Google reviews displayed on the site, accreditations, partnerships with insurers, available equipment. Show things patients can check. Avoid unverifiable testimonials: they reassure less than a real Google rating.

10. Local pages and a tagged FAQ

One page per neighbourhood served and a structured FAQ with FAQPage markup help you appear in local searches and be quoted directly in Google and AI answers. We explain this strategy in Local medical SEO: showing up on Google and in ChatGPT in Douala.

Frequently asked questions

Should a clinic website show prices?

Yes, at least as ranges for common procedures. Patients hesitate less and your team spends less time on the phone.

How many pages should a clinic website have?

Plan a homepage, one page per specialty, a team page, a pricing page, a contact and directions page, an FAQ and a blog. A clinic with ten specialties quickly passes fifteen pages.

Is a website enough without a Google Business Profile?

No. The Google Business Profile feeds Google Maps and local results. The website and the profile must share exactly the same name, address and phone number.
